Sharlisa & Rachel State Forest Engagement Photoshoot

It took a long time Australia. It really did. 2018 marks the year we finally accepted that Love, really is just that, love. It was a painful and lengthy journey for many  couples in love, but for those who made it, the time to celebrate is now!

When Sharlisa met Rachel, she knew she had met someone very special. Sadly, it was also a long and tiring journey to get to where they are now. So when Sharlisa contacted me to book in the engagement photoshoot, I was super excited to do it! There was only one problem, they were nervous. They don’t like being photographed. So when Sharlisa suggested to Rachel that they do a pre-wedding photoshoot with me, she was skeptical. Can you blame her? They had never done a professional photoshoot before, how could they know what to expect? This was foreign territory for both of them.

The big day had arrived. It was time to face the camera. Let me say, they both arrived full of energy, particularly Rachel! Not bad for a couple that were extremely nervous. I mean, let’s think about it for a second, most people have never done an engagement photoshoot before, so it is only fair that they would be a bit nervous. Would that be fair? Of course! But no more than 5 minutes into the shoot and they were all laughter, so relaxed. It was like we had been friends for years. Naturally, the beautiful images just kept flowing. Nothing makes for more stunning images than a couple that are comfortable, and having a good time. That is the (not so secret) secret.

As we were driving out of the State park we again got talking. Both Sharlisa and Rachel had enjoyed significantly more fun than they thought they would. I believe, as Rachel said, “I would certainly do that again”. This photoshoot had served as such a confidence boost for them both, they knew they were going to be just fine when the big day came. That, is the brilliance behind the engagement photoshoot. It gives you an opportunity to work out your nerves with your photographer. It gives you a chance to work together and get friendly (trust me, we really did bond on this shoot). And not least of all, they are just so much fun.
